Key West is a real treasure and is filled with interesting things to do. The best way to see the island in one day is to travel around on the Conch Train or the Trolley. The Trolley will let you stop off at points of interest and stay a while. The Conch Train does not stop, so be prepared for a 90-minute tour. The best shopping for souvenirs is at Mallory Square, so save your money for that stop. It is always crowded because all of the cruise ships dock nearby. (use scroll bar to read more)
Conchs and CONCH HEADS thrive on eccentricity as much as diversity. The city has been a sanctuary for artists, authors, poets, professionals, scientists, presidents, pirates and the rick and famous, all who somehow managed to find their own little piece of paradise along this four mile wide stretch of land.
The more ostentatious side of Key West resides along Duval Street. This tourist Mecca resembles a smaller version of Mardi Gras on a nightly basis. Sunsets and drag shows are just the warm up acts to Key West's lively nightlife. Your visit won't be complete without a walk down Duval Street after dark.
Many folks claim that once you've visited Key West, you'll want to return again and again. The only way to know for sure is to experience the island's allure for yourself and find out why so many visitors call themselves CONCH HEADS.
